Hockeyology Assistant Instructor

Are you an aspiring hockey instructor or coach who is looking for a great place to work?

ZerOne Hockeyology is hiring part-time assistant hockey instructors for our Hockeyology IQ Camp/Launch event this summer! We offer a state-of-the-art facility, comprehensive training, and exciting opportunities for career advancement. Job Overview

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist Lead Instructors with running drills, on and off ice activities, and supporting players
  • Aid in the development of fundamental skills such as skating, passing, shooting, and puck control
  • Provide feedback and encouragement to players at all times throughout the camp
  • Assist in setting up and maintaining equipment needed for all camp activities
  • Supervise players during drills and scrimmages to aid Lead Instructors on all player assessments and to ensure safety and adherence to rules at all times

Accountabilities/Reporting
Assistant Instructors will report to their designated Lead Instructors at all times, as well as any and all camp organizers, managers, and camp captain. These teams and leaders will be established leading up to and during IQ camp training period.

Qualifications

Job Overview

  • Lead and supervise a team of assistant instructors and support staff during camp sessions
  • Conduct on-ice and off-ice training sessions, drills, and scrimmages for camp participants

  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth
  • Ensure the safety of campers during all activities and enforce camp rules and regulations

Accountabilities/Reports
Lead Instructors will report to the ZerOne Hockeyology IQ Summer camp Captain. The Captain will be your main point of contact throughout the entire Camp.

Lead Instructors will be responsible for managing their designated team of assistant instructors (which will be established leading up to and during IQ camp training period).

Qualifications

  • Coach Certification through Hockey Canada or Skate Canada
  • A minimum of three years’ experience as a hockey instructor or coach

Job Overview

These are ambassadors to ZerOne and have a comprehensive understanding of both Hockeyology and Athleticare. They need exceptional interpersonal and communications skills with a strong focus on customer service. Ambassadors are required to work within retail, front desk, and other service departments and must be flexible to tackle additional support tasks as they may arise. On the retail side they are responsible for stocking and merchandising, cleaning and maintenance of the retail and front desk environment, and inventory management. Ambassadors an in-depth understanding of Mind Body Registration, operational structure and service offerings within ZerOne.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as ambassadors to ZerOne with a comprehensive understanding of both Hockeyology and Athleticare.
  • Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a strong emphasis on customer service.
  • Work effectively within retail, front desk, and other service departments, displaying flexibility to tackle additional support tasks.
  • Stock and merchandise retail products, ensuring attractive presentation and organization.

Job Overview

Lead Hockeyologists will be required to cover a full complement of disciplines. As a Lead Hockeyologist, you’ll lead instructional sessions, help design training programs, and provide personalized feedback to players. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of assistant instructors during training sessions within the facility and the Ice Palace
  • Conduct on-ice and off-ice training sessions, drills, and scrimmages for players
  • Provide instruction and feedback to players to enhance their hockey skills and knowledge of the game, taking athletes from 0 to 1

Accountabilities/Reports
Lead Hockeyologists will report to the ZerOne Hockeyology Department Heads. The Department Head that each Lead Hockeyologist reports to will be determined by their speciality/discipline.

Lead Hockeyologists will be responsible for managing and delegating duties to their designated team of assistant instructors, of which will be established by the Department Heads.

Qualifications

  • Coach Certification through Hockey Canada or Skate Canada
  • A minimum of three years’ experience as a hockey instructor or coach
  • Leadership experience on a team either as a player or coach
  • 3 letters of reference from coworkers or clients in the hockey industry

Upon successful completion of the interview process, you will be asked to provide a copy of your current Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector and First Aid Certification.

Full-time Positions:

  • Full time staff are covered by ZerOne’s benefits program
  • Salaried pay rate ranges from $40,000-$60,000.
  • Schedules may vary, the facility is open 7 days a week, 8 hour shifts.
  • Work will be located on-site at West Edmonton Mall Phase 1 on the 1st floor, in the ZerOne Hockeyology facility.

Part-time Positions:

  • Hourly pay rate will be determined by Coach or Instructor experience and qualifications given in application/interview.
  • Schedules may vary, the facility is open 7 days a week, 5 hours minimum a week required.
  • Work will be located on-site at West Edmonton Mall Phase 1 on the 1st floor, in the ZerOne Hockeyology facility and WEM Ice Palace.
