2. Stride Power and Conditioning
Dedicated to enhancing a player’s strength, endurance, and overall athleticism to achieve peak performance.
On the HDTS skating treadmill, players engage in high-intensity interval training (HIIT) to boost cardiovascular fitness and leg strength. This includes sprints, resistance drills, and power exercises to enhance explosive skating ability. In the gym, the focus shifts to off-ice exercises to support stride technique through the development of leg strength, power, and hip mobility.
3. Stride Technique and Mobility
Focused on refining skating techniques and enhancing flexibility.
On the HDTS skating treadmill, players focus on perfecting their stride mechanics, edge control, and balance through a series of drills and exercises, emphasizing precision and fluidity in skating movements. The session then moves to the gym, where exercises are designed to improve stride mechanics & coordination by improving joint range of motion, flexibility, strength and power. This combination ensures that players can move efficiently and fluidly on the ice.
4. Puck Skills and Coordination
Integrates puck handling, shooting, and general coordination with advanced skating skills.
On the HDTS skating treadmill, players perform drills that combine skating with stickhandling, passing, and shooting, helping them maintain puck control at high speeds. The session continues in the gym, emphasizing coordination and fine motor skills. Improve reaction time, and multi-tasking abilities. The class aims to develop players who can seamlessly integrate their skating and puck skills during gameplay.
5. Powerskating & True Movement
Power Skating aims to elevate a player’s skating efficiency, speed, and agility.
Small Group Training on the Skills Ice in the Hockeyology Facility, this class is designed to improve the fundamental skating techniques essential for success in hockey. Drills emphasize proper stride mechanics, edge control, balance, and stops and starts with a strong focus on skill execution within limited space. Each lesson is designed to improve specific skating technique. Participation in previous classes is not required. True Movement programming is paired with the skill lesson to enhance posture, mobility and performance.
6. Puck Control & True Movement
Puck Control is designed to refine a player’s ability to handle, protect, and maneuver the puck in various game situations.
Open to players and goaltenders, this class explores stickhandling techniques, puck protection, passing accuracy, and shooting skills. Players will engage in drills that replicate real-game scenarios in small areas, helping them to build confidence and creativity with the puck. Emphasis is placed on maintaining control under pressure and making quick, effective decisions during gameplay. Each lesson is designed to improve specific skating technique. Participation in previous classes is not required. The True Movement program aims to improve mobility, resulting in injury prevention and less wear and tear on the body. In this module we introduce rolling through the joints, moving through multiple planes, shifting off centre and developing the neuromuscular patterns to increase efficiency.
7. Small Area Games & True Movement
Small Area Games focus on enhancing a player’s ability to perform in tight spaces, which is critical in game situations.
Open to players and goaltenders, this class involves competitive drills and scrimmages in confined areas of the rink, emphasizing quick thinking, rapid decision-making, and close-quarters puck battles. Players will develop better spatial awareness, improve their reaction time, and enhance their ability to execute plays under pressure, all while fostering a high level of competitiveness and teamwork. The True Movement Platform® will be strategically used to build strength and endurance. High resistance springs are used which allows us to focus on lower body strength without overloading the joints.
8. Hockey IQ
Hockey IQ is dedicated to developing a player’s understanding of the game, including strategic thinking, anticipation, and decision-making.
This class covers game theory, positional play, and situational awareness. Through video analysis, on-ice drills, and classroom sessions, players will learn to read the play, anticipate opponents’ moves, and make smart decisions that benefit their team. The goal is to cultivate a deep understanding of the game that enables players to think ahead and make impactful plays. A follow-up video session will be provided in the Media Centre to review tactical concepts and key learnings. Through watching and discussing video content, players can visualize techniques, understand game strategies, and identify areas for improvement.

Players will practice masking their intentions and using body language and puck movement to deceive their opponents. And we’ll obviously keep score. Continue your training in the gym with exercises focused on dissociation of the upper and lower body, body position awareness, and reactive quickness.
13. Open Ice (Stick & Puck)

14. Drive Hockey Baseline Analytics & Heat Mapping – Combine & Scrimmage – Ice Palace
Level up your game with the help of Drive Analytics. Through a skills combine and 5 v 5 scrimmage, advanced sensors are used to track your on-ice performance in real-time. Tracking during the Skills Combine includes linear skating drills that measure your speed and stride efficiency, angular skating exercises that assess your ability to maneuver around the ice, and measures of your pace and agility. The sensors will also evaluate your acceleration and deceleration to understand how quickly you can change speeds. Each of these components provides crucial insights into your skating abilities and helps tailor your training to address specific areas for improvement. Tracking during the 5 v 5 scrimmage will generate a heatmap, providing insights into your positioning and movement patterns throughout the game.
