About this program
The step into body contact is the point where a lot of players lose confidence. This four-session program is built to make that transition a trained skill instead of a shock.
Athletes work through a progression on giving and receiving contact: body position, angling, protecting the puck, absorbing a check, and staying inside the rules. The goal is a player who is comfortable in traffic and knows what is legal.
What’s included
- Four progressive on-ice sessions
- Contact technique, giving and receiving
- Body position, angling, and puck protection
- Rules and legal-contact instruction
Is my player ready for this?
It is built for players heading into a division where body contact is introduced, or already there and not yet comfortable with it. No prior contact experience is needed. That is the point of the program.
How each session runs
Wednesdays, 6:15 to 8:00 PM. The first 45 minutes are an off-ice workout in the strength and power zone, building the body position and balance that safe contact depends on. After a short break the group moves to the skills rink from 7:15 to 8:00 PM to apply it on the ice.
